“Not/Now Political” fine art giclee limited edition print
Signed limited edition of 50, art giclee print, hand-finished with gold Dutch metal leaf. Numbered in order of purchase, comes with a certificate of authentication.
Unframed, delivered in a solid tube.
I painted the original of “Not/now Political” purely for myself, having found my mind wandering in the dark rabbit hole of American politics.
Rather than focus on the negative aspects and fear, I asked myself what I would want to see, every day, to remind myself what I and my friends actually stand for…and that we’re not alone.
Recently, term “political” has nearly lost its meaning through over use and application, so suddenly attributes and symbols that were once free of political agenda or connotations suddenly find themselves being divisive.
Peace Love and Joy are what I choose to keep in the front of my mind. In showing the original painting to others, I realised this print has something powerful to say and share. If division is political, so is beauty.
Doves (peace) roses (love) and swallows (a love that always returns: thus sailors’ tattoos) are the most noticeable part of this print. The other flowers featured are all associated with peace, love or joy around the world; lotus are pure, despite being born in muddy water, cherrys blossom after the darkest winter, etc
It is my wish that we all choose wings over the rabbit hole.
Size: original size, 470x580mm (530x640mm paper size)
